USES: Fortune Teller® is an Australian native that makes wonderful hedges, screens, windbreaks and specimen trees, is ideal as a patio plant, and makes perfect topiary art.
CHARACTERISTICS: Fortune Teller® has small compact leaves; the transformation of colours from crimsons to jades to gold’s, lemons and limes makes Fortune Teller® a true HYPERCOLOURED plant that is ever changing with our seasons.
FOLIAGE: In the colder months Fortune Tellers® flushes are brilliant and vibrant, in many hues of crimson, copper, fiery reds and oranges. In the warmer months Fortune Teller® is aureovariegatus which means it has gold-green variegated leaves. The gold variegation lends itself to quick growth as opposed to white variegation which is usually sensitive to the sun.
FLOWER: Fortune Teller® has fluffy cream coloured flowers in spring followed by crimson bird attracting, edible Lillypilly fruits, and perfect for Jams.
HABIT: Upright growing habit, with great straight leader stems. New leaves are upright in appearance. Grows to 3m height and 2m wide.

HARDINESS: Frost tolerant, humidity tolerant, Fortune Teller grows in the cold climate of Melbourne as well as the warmth and humidity in the tropics of Darwin.
CULTURE: In a pot use a high quality light potting mix. In ground Fortune Teller® prefers a moist well drained soil that is heavily mulched.
POSITION: Prefers full sun to part shade (well lit patio).
CARE: An application of top dress3-4 month slow releasefertiliser and rotating the pot towards the light as the seasons change is ideal. Trim occasionally to enhance shape and promote new fresh growth.
WATER: Moderately low water requirement once fully established in ground and mulched. If in a pot keep moist and water when required. Placing a saucer under the pot is beneficial in maintaining consistent watering conditions. |
